500 million dollars in Zimbabwe

During AYF i remember professor Kip Cates mention about how bad the economy on Zimbabwe is. Few days ago while I'm surfing on the net i found out this thread on the most famous local forum, and when i tell about it to Anastasia she seems interested and i hope you all will be interested also. So I'll try to share it with you guys, sorry for the lame English before that ^^

First of all be thankful this is not your country, not much we can do to help Zimbabwe but at least we could try to make sure such a condition doesn't happen in our country.

Guess how much you could get with that amount of money? The 500 million dollars that just printed in may 2008 in the picture only equals 2 US dollars, and that's the amount Zimbabwe people need to pay for one time meal. on July 2008 Zimbabwe bank introduce a 100 billion dollar bill, guess how much dollar it is?

That's 5 time meal for us. The condition of Zimbabwe dollar makes even the slightest change at the currency exchange became a big change of price inside Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe hold the record for the biggest inflation that could happen in minute count. Could you imagine how hard the work for shopkeeper there because they need to change the price every minute? Does your boring job sounds more better and interesting for you now?

Even though they hold lots of record, none of them could be proud of. Based on what i can found this all could happen because of several factor. Zimbabwe involvement on the Democratic Republic of Congo during 1998-2002 has drained thousand of dollars and lots of their resource, even though peace treaty is signed on 2003 things in Africa doesn't go any better. Lots of abuse, sexual violence still happening even right now in the border. This is considered one of the worst since the world war, that's why some people named this war the "African War". See what war could bring to our country? And there's also some racism problem that makes white farmer has to move in and out from Zimbabwe, this has make the world trust on Zimbabwe drop low. Long live racism? I'd say racism is not even good enough for dog food!! Proud on your nationality, religion, race or something like that is not bad, but see where excessive proud would take you.

This is how much your going to receive on your payday. Wallet? forget it, you need a bag or sack to bring that amount of money with you.

Could you see the price over there? 10M, 15M and the 50/60M sign is the example on what I've said above on how fast the price change in Zimbabwe.

I can't even tell, however the source said that this is a picture of beggar in Zimbabwe...

Well that's all for now. Remember it could happen in our country, therefore it's our job to make it not happen. Remember the power of youth we've been taught during AYF? I hope you found this entry interesting. Please drop a comment, just click the cone of ices below if you want to drop a comment. Or if your to lazy to do so, just drop it on the chat box provided next to this entry. I want to know your opinion ^^

Interesting fact about Zimbabwe:
  1. Even though the national language of Zimbabwe is English most of people there use other language as their main language.
  2. Zimbabwe is the place where Baden-pawell give birth to scouting.
p.s: credit goes to whoever take the picture, that picture is not mine, and the entry based on few articles that i read.

Ooooh nooooo. It's sad :(
It's hard for me to even think how hard it is there. Imagine buying veggies for 5M! I mean, well. Each country's currency may vary in dollar but man, this is graaaave! It saddens me soooo much! :(

hm..... do you really think that can happen in our countries?
I do dount. for that we need a) to be very dependant on foreign aid b)have distress in political situation c)produce and export nothing valuable more or less.
i feel soryy for these people. We must help them, as they are a stronghold for Western influence. Ahw! sorry! :):):):)
