Dreams of 2008 and New Year Resolution
Before saying anything let me say
Merry (belated!?) X'Mas 2008
happy belated new year 2009
Usually every year i wrote down my new year resolution on someplace which will get lost soon. So this year i think I'll share my new year resolution with you guys. This new year kinda boring for me because nothing special and i fell sick XD oh well but that's something new to celebrate new year in almost 20 year of my life ;)
This entry was also written because there is some nice word that i read on one of the forum that i join. The word is like this
"What will you do if you wake up and realize that the last 6 year of your life is only a dream?"
Simple question yet tricky to answer. I believe that as a human we always never had enough, and we always wanted to change the past. So rather than look back 6 year ago (which i have forgotten what i have done in 6 year anyway XD) i prefer to look back in this 1 year.
2008 year has been a great year. Lots of things happen starting from the first day of 2008 where for the first time i celebrate new year not in my house but on someplace in Kelapa Gading watching firework in a rain. After that i barely remember what happen so i will write down few things that i remember in 2008. Last year the girl i had crush for almost than 3 years give me somethings for my birthday party which makes me feel really happy. Little incident happen that almost makes my lil precious present gone, but thanks to that now I know my own feeling. My birthday party in 2008 is the best ever, for the first time i got more than 2 present :p poor me for being happy on 5-7 present only eh?
After that my trip to join AYF because e-mail that was sent by one of my favorite lecturer. And luckily AYF 6th takes place in Japan. Place that I've been wanting to go for so long!! Surprisingly over there its not only the beauty of Japan that makes me feel thankful to join that event. But there i also could meet with tons of participant (student and few amazing lecturer) from all around Asia. I learn about their dedication, passion and manage to see how small i am in this big world! There i meet few good friend that i hope i could keep in touch as long as possible! AYF 6th is the place where i learn to trust and keep faith on other people again. Thanks prof Kip Cates for creating such a wonderful event. Until now i haven't actually finish the entry on what i do over there. And i don't think it will ever finished because i started to forget the detail i do over there, hopefully i could finish it this month! I don't want the precious memories consumed by time that i cannot remember it anymore.
2008 was also the year where i learn to be more punctual. Few reason is one of my lecturer prohibited for his student to be late for his class, and he do that by doing quiz early in the class. So far I've skipped more quit than the quiz that i take (reason : my laziness). After i came back from Japan i think my time management became better. I realized one of the reason i can't be punctual is the environment where i live. In Indonesia it's really hard to be on time because EVERYONE is simply NOT on time! But I'll try to be punctual as long as i can and we will see how long i can do that ;)
On the end of 2008 the lecturer that make my AYF trip possible resign because of healthy reason. On behalf of those who has been taught by hear i would like to say my biggest gratitude to Mrs Henny Surya Ningsih for all the time and care given, especially to the 1st generation of applied database classes. We will never forget you (even if we might forget what you taught us XD, gomen!!) I also learn that resting is as important as working! (actually i my case i need to learn working is as important as resting)
And also 2008 is the year where i actually to decide to graduate early on somethings such as fun. I rarely go to internet cafe to play online game or such a thing anymore T_T and maybe some of my friend can't accept my early graduation on fun. Because my graduation also means i choose work upon someone's Birthday. Nevertheless once you graduate you can't back, end of conversation. So what i can do now is walk forward to reach my dream!!
So far that's all memorable event on 2008. So what would i do if its only a dream? The main purpose of this entry is to all of us to reflect that the time that has passed is not a dream. Therefore we always need to do our best in every situation. Time that has passed can't come back.
So based on that my 2009 new year resolution would be
1. Try to be punctual
2. Graduate on time
3. Hopefully i could join the 7th AYF
4. Finish 90% of the task given to me
5. Learn to say sorry for the 10% of the task that can't be done (hey I'm a realistic person, please note that!)
6. Get accepted on some place that sounds cool and cool for real!
7. Keep in touch with everyone, because friend is precious after all.
8. Figured out what i can do in life!
9. Dedicated my life for people that need
10. stop breaking my new year resolution that has been done since i-don't-remember-when
Well what about you? Have you do some reflection on the year that has past? If you haven't please do because people need to learn from mistakes, be thankful on what they have achieved, and strive to the future! If you have done it why don't you share your resolution with me??? Drop a comment k and i will reply back ;)

Extra Ordinary Me!
At first, i wanted to named this entry with "Super Me" but afraid that some people will misread it as one of the famous instant noodle in Indonesia, i decided to change the tittle. This entry will be short and instead of i want you to read it, it's more like a memo to myself in the future!!
Today November 11th 2008
Lots of things happen
Things that makes my heart really happy
Just because i could do something to someone
Things that really disappoint me
Just because i am not as good as what i think of
Things that makes me hate this world
Just because that's how the world is
Even though one day i will forget what happen today. Today i make a promise and swear to myself that i have to be Extra Ordinary!! And i will use all of the time and power i have to change this world into a better and safe place so people could once trust each other again. Today once again i learn not to easily trust other, and i hope i will never change!
For me in the future

Indonesian Street Food
Ziep from Vietnam ask me about Indonesian street food. And I think some of you will be interested also. So I’ll post it here. Hope you find it interesting or useful, and if there’s any serious eater around you let me know. My dream is to travel and taste the food around the world.
Siomay
Description : Unlike Chinese, Indonesian siomay doesn’t consist of two parts (layer and filling). Indonesian Siomay looks like meatball and eaten with peanut and soy sauce. Indonesian siomay usually eaten with hard tofu, cabbages, potatoes and other. Usually it’s made from fish.
Taste : It’s a little bit chewy and because it got fish in it some people think it smells not good. But once you taste it, you’ll became addicted to it.
Gorengan
Description : One of the most famous street foods in here. Gorengan in English means “deep fried”, that’s because how to make gorengan is to fried lots of things. Just like Japanese tempura, Gorengan came in many kinds. There are tofu, tempe, cassava, sweet potato, and more.
Taste : Because usually they’re coated with some kind of flour, it became crispy. Because it came with lots of variety you’ll never got bored with it. Some people eat it with seasoning such as raw chili, chili sauce, salt and so on. And what makes this food popular is because it’s cheap.
Rangi cakes
Description : Made from corn cakes that’s baked for a few minutes until it became a little bit crispy but chewy inside. After being cooked, melted caramelized red sugar added.
Taste : One of my personal favorite. With friendly prize you could get some rangi cakes that enough to stuff your hungry stomach. It taste great especially because there’s red sugar added in the end, make it smells good and taste good. Yumm caramel <3

Otak-Ot
ak
Description : Otak means brain in English, but worry not this food got nothing to do with it. Made from mixing fish, flour and spices until it became fish paste. Some people said that it looks like Indonesian siomay. What makes it different is that Otak-otak was wrapped with banana leaves and burned directly on fire. After done spicy peanut sauce was added. Taste : Superb! If you eat at the right place it will taste magnificent. Because it’s wrapped with banana leaves there’s this nice scent and since its burn on fire it got this nice smoky feeling. For best result it would be better to burn it using wood. The banana and fire small will reduce the fishy smell. It got chewy texture and the spicy peanut sauce makes it taste better.

Tahu Gejrot
Description : Tahu is tofu, while gejrot is a little bit hard to describe. I think it means smashing something that’s soft and watery, like sponge. Some people called it smackdown tofu in English. First you fried the tofu like usual, what makes it special is the sauce. The sauce made from garlic, raw chili (Indonesian people like to eat spicy food), vinegar, red sugar, salt, and lots of things that the seller refuse to tell me >.<
Taste : It’s really unique. It’s spicy but at the same time because there’s vinegar added it became refreshing also, but that’s not all don’t forget the sugar. Sugar will reduce the acidic feeling created from the vinegar and gives nice sweet flavor. One of Indonesian delegacies you should try.
Well that’s all. The most important things is even though Indonesia got lots of unique street food. Currently our traditional food is dying because they can’t compete with modern snack, such as crepes, burger, fried potatoes with flavor, and so on. What about you? Do your countries have some kind of unique snack? Share it with us ^^

500 million dollars in Zimbabwe
During AYF i remember professor Kip Cates mention about how bad the economy on Zimbabwe is. Few days ago while I'm surfing on the net i found out this thread on the most famous local forum, and when i tell about it to Anastasia she seems interested and i hope you all will be interested also. So I'll try to share it with you guys, sorry for the lame English before that ^^
First of all be thankful this is not your country, not much we can do to help Zimbabwe but at least we could try to make sure such a condition doesn't happen in our country.
Guess how much you could get with that amount of money? The 500 million dollars that just printed in may 2008 in the picture only equals 2 US dollars, and that's the amount Zimbabwe people need to pay for one time meal. on July 2008 Zimbabwe bank introduce a 100 billion dollar bill, guess how much dollar it is?
That's 5 time meal for us. The condition of Zimbabwe dollar makes even the slightest change at the currency exchange became a big change of price inside Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe hold the record for the biggest inflation that could happen in minute count. Could you imagine how hard the work for shopkeeper there because they need to change the price every minute? Does your boring job sounds more better and interesting for you now?
Even though they hold lots of record, none of them could be proud of. Based on what i can found this all could happen because of several factor. Zimbabwe involvement on the Democratic Republic of Congo during 1998-2002 has drained thousand of dollars and lots of their resource, even though peace treaty is signed on 2003 things in Africa doesn't go any better. Lots of abuse, sexual violence still happening even right now in the border. This is considered one of the worst since the world war, that's why some people named this war the "African War". See what war could bring to our country? And there's also some racism problem that makes white farmer has to move in and out from Zimbabwe, this has make the world trust on Zimbabwe drop low. Long live racism? I'd say racism is not even good enough for dog food!! Proud on your nationality, religion, race or something like that is not bad, but see where excessive proud would take you.
This is how much your going to receive on your payday. Wallet? forget it, you need a bag or sack to bring that amount of money with you.
Could you see the price over there? 10M, 15M and the 50/60M sign is the example on what I've said above on how fast the price change in Zimbabwe.
5M vegetable
Now you believe when i said you need to bring a bag or sack when you eat outside?
when you thirsty and go to the bar. I'm amazed on how much money you need to pay.
Want to buy a chicken?
To expensive? then the egg maybe..........
I can't even tell, however the source said that this is a picture of beggar in Zimbabwe...
Well that's all for now. Remember it could happen in our country, therefore it's our job to make it not happen. Remember the power of youth we've been taught during AYF? I hope you found this entry interesting. Please drop a comment, just click the cone of ices below if you want to drop a comment. Or if your to lazy to do so, just drop it on the chat box provided next to this entry. I want to know your opinion ^^

Interesting fact about Zimbabwe:
- Even though the national language of Zimbabwe is English most of people there use other language as their main language.
- Zimbabwe is the place where Baden-pawell give birth to scouting.

Day 1, arriving in Japan – Keisatsu – Penguin, Rocket and Banana!!
Prologue
Flight bisa dibilang just so-so, penulis yang kalo uda naek pesawat kg kalah parno nya sama chiaki tanpa nodame nya pengen pingsan aja tiap kali pesawat take-off, mendarat, apalagi klo kena turbulence. Menu makan yang disiapin ada 2 kali antara laen, nasi pake kari buat makan malem atau macaroni pake ayam cincang (ngak menarik deh bentuknya jadi ngak dipoto), sama satu lagi nasi lemak atau omelet pake sosis sama tomat benyek(standart)
Part I Keisatsu
Setelah selamat entah gimana caranya penulis akhirnya berhasil mendarat di Narita Airport, Jepang pada pukul 7:35, setelah menikmati beberapa langkah pertama dengan gaya norak yang disepakati *buka kaki lebar-lebar terus tarik napas hembuskan sambil teriak TOKYO!!!!!* well ngak sampe teriak si soalnya penulis ngomongnya pake nada standart aja uda dilirik sama orang Jepang. Setelah itu abis pelongo-pelongo kaya orang dongo penulis tau-tau disamperin sama 2 orang berbaju jas rapi dengan senyum pake gigi palsu satu. Pembicaraan yang terjadi kurang lebih seperti ini “ware *something-something* keisatsu” and I said, “what?” Guess what they said next, penulis kg merasa bersalah soalnya kebalik inget keisatsu sama tokutastu, penulis mendadak dikasi liat dompet yang dibuka ala film-film sambil dibarengin omongan Japanese Policeman.
Reaksi?
So reader, next time you found something priced Rp 150.000 or more, please remember my story and think whether that item is that worth or not.
Part II Pinguinu, Roketo, Banana
Well that makes me a lil bit proud.
Peserta semua mandinya barengan dan penulis yang tadinya masuk masih pake celana dalem terpaksa ikutan budaya timur dah harus tottaly naked, because one of my room mate that’s a Japanese said, doing so is considered VERY RUDE! Yah akhirnya penulis ikutan copot, ternyata ada sensasinya sendiri. So apa hubungannya sama judul part 2 ini? Penulis yang sepanjang siang uda puas matanya kelilipan malaikat malem ini terpaksa liat berbagai macem roket, pisang, penguin berbagai ukuran. Sigh my virgin eyes, besok harus cuci mata lagi deh. Well that’s all for day 1. dapet Room mate nya baek banget yang orang Cambodja, belom apa-apa uda dikasih 2 oleh-oleh yang satu postcard ada tulisannya yang kedua dikasih gantungan kunci merangkap gunting kuku. Well emang orang asia Ramah-ramah yah.
Oh iya tambahan sedikit, suhu disini sekitar 12-20 derajat, sementara matahari bersinar cerah banget, jadi rasanya kayak di Jakarta tapi ada yang setel AC suhu maksimum. Yah that’s all for today, penulis juga uda makin ngantuk, daripada telat sarapan hari ini buat besok tidur dulu yah =) Thanks for reading and don’t forget to drop a comment kali-kali reader ada yang mo berbagi pengalaman ditangkep polisi di Negara orang, ato ketemu bentrok budaya yang mayan ekstrim kayak kejadian, coz penulis suka banget kalo blog nya dikomenin meskipun yang jelek ato ngak penting.
Note to self: today I learn that keisatsu and tokusatsu is two different things, note that!

Flight bisa dibilang just so-so, penulis yang kalo uda naek pesawat kg kalah parno nya sama chiaki tanpa nodame nya pengen pingsan aja tiap kali pesawat take-off, mendarat, apalagi klo kena turbulence. Menu makan yang disiapin ada 2 kali antara laen, nasi pake kari buat makan malem atau macaroni pake ayam cincang (ngak menarik deh bentuknya jadi ngak dipoto), sama satu lagi nasi lemak atau omelet pake sosis sama tomat benyek(standart)
Part I Keisatsu
Setelah selamat entah gimana caranya penulis akhirnya berhasil mendarat di Narita Airport, Jepang pada pukul 7:35, setelah menikmati beberapa langkah pertama dengan gaya norak yang disepakati *buka kaki lebar-lebar terus tarik napas hembuskan sambil teriak TOKYO!!!!!* well ngak sampe teriak si soalnya penulis ngomongnya pake nada standart aja uda dilirik sama orang Jepang. Setelah itu abis pelongo-pelongo kaya orang dongo penulis tau-tau disamperin sama 2 orang berbaju jas rapi dengan senyum pake gigi palsu satu. Pembicaraan yang terjadi kurang lebih seperti ini “ware *something-something* keisatsu” and I said, “what?” Guess what they said next, penulis kg merasa bersalah soalnya kebalik inget keisatsu sama tokutastu, penulis mendadak dikasi liat dompet yang dibuka ala film-film sambil dibarengin omongan Japanese Policeman.
Reaksi?
